Young adult Moose is a sensitive, insecure dog who approaches life with a good deal of apprehension and defensiveness.
This complex little chap doesn’t take readily to humans, and is very choosy about who he allows to get close to him, both physically and emotionally.
He is happiest with human females, but by no means all, and although in time he will come round to some men, he is not comfortable having them in his personal space.
Moose has always disliked small spaces, and feeling trapped. When he perceives he is in such a situation he will guard and growl.
With his favourite ladies he is soft, affectionate and cuddly. Moose needs to feel comfortable with his handler, and needs to be able to trust that you will look after him, and look out for him. He’s a real baby.
Like many of his breed, his skin needs daily care, and he is on a specialised diet to offset skin flare ups.
In spite of those short legs, Moose is a chunky chap and is classed as a large dog, with strength to match.
Moose needs help to eat, as his conformation makes it very difficult to pick up food.
Apart from cuddles and food, Moose loves to play ball. He’s not overly keen on walkies, as he finds the outside world quite worrying and stressful. He is a panicker who attempts to bolt.
Moose is looking to be the only pet in a quiet, secure home with a lawned garden for running and playing. Strictly no children as he doesn’t tolerate them. He would ideally like a female owner, but may tolerate a couple including a quiet, calm human male. New owners should be patient, understanding and capable, and should have the time to spend working with Moose, gaining his trust, training and building that all important sense of security.
