Lou Benney

Trustee / Site Volunteer / Fundraiser

I first became aware of K9 Crusaders in April 2013, when my parents came home with a beautiful Bullmastiff x Rottweiler called Diesel. I formed at instant bond with Diesel, and started to share photos of him on the K9 Crusaders facebook page. Then I noticed a post asking for volunteers, and I had the spare time and thought I owed it to Diesel to go and help out. I started off by helping at fundraising events, and then went on to help on site with the dogs, which I love. Throughout the summer months you’ll often find me behind teddy tombolas. I often take Diesel along to our fundraising events.

While I have been volunteering for K9 Crusaders, I have had my head shaved twice, transported dogs to the vets and home checks, worked in our shop and I have had a couple of the dogs come and stay at my house while recovering from operations, as well as helping at numerous fundraising events.

In 2014 I because a trustee for K9 Crusaders; this is something of which I am very proud.

I have also adopted a beautiful dog called Trixie who, along with my Westie Flint, come along to our Paws for a Chat drop in at All Saints Community Centre, Tuckingmill, where they meet and play with people with additional needs, the elderly, isolated and lonely.

I am proud to say I will always be a K9 Crusader, and will continue to do my best for the dogs in our care.
