Two to stand trial over theft from Cornish dog rescue charity

A WOMAN and man will stand trial in relation to the theft of over £120,000 from a Cornish dog rescue charity.

Katrina Jones, 52, from South Wales will stand trial alongside Mark Wren, 50, from Sheffield at Cardiff Crown Court on August 4.

Jones has been charged with 29 separate offences of theft and fraud totalling over £500,000, including an alleged offence of theft totalling £120,100 from the K9 Crusaders based in Bissoe.

The charges also relate to offences in South Wales and Cumbria.

Wren has been charged with an offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The investigation has involved Devon and Cornwall Police Financial Investigation Unit alongside forces across the country.

Jones was remanded in custody after appearing at Cardiff Crown Court on March 25.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said:”Police would like to reassure supporters of the charity that their finances are now secure and that any future donations made are protected.”
