MAIN DRAG: The cross-dressing volunteers collect for K9 Crusaders on The Moor on Saturday.

VOLUNTEERS from an animal charity gave locals something to smile about as they walked through Falmouth town centre in skirts and high heels.

It was part of a fundraising stunt on Saturday in aid of K9 Crusaders at Bissoe near Truro.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “They were willing to be laughed at in order to raise desperately needed funds for this dog rehoming, rescue and rehabilitation charity. Local people thought it was absolutely hilarious.”

The cross-dressing fundraisers collected more than £250 on the day, with donations still rolling into the charity.

The next fundraising event for the charity is the Easter Fun Dog Show at Threemilestone on April 20.
