Amber

IT IS WITH immense sadness, and considerable distress, that I have to post that we have lost our beautiful, sweet natured gentle giant, Amber.

Amber didn’t have much luck in her 9 years. Passed from pillar to post, and horribly neglected, Amber arrived at K9 Crusaders in a shocking state, both physically and emotionally.

We healed her physical self, and in time her emotional scars. She knew more stability here than she had ever known, and I hope, more love.

This evening she came in from her favourite place-our ‘deep cover’ field, and became quiet and listless, refusing her tea. She vomited the tell tale bright white slime that indicates bloat, frequently caused by gastric tortion.

We lost no time in getting her into the car and to C vets, where she was given pain relief and x rays. Our worst fears were confirmed-a full gastric tortion- her stomach had rotated completely. Blood tests indicated she was unlikely to survive surgery, given her age and size.

On the advice of the vet, we let Amber slip away. She went peacefully, and just looked as though she were sleeping.
Amber has been buried in her beloved deep cover field. No more pain now, sweet girl.
